‘Too Fat’ Kevin Smith Kicked Out of Plane
Actor-Director Kevin Smith has waged a war against Southwest Airlines after he was ordered to get off one of its planes for failing to fit comfortably in his seat. Smith was trying to catch a flight from Oakland to Burbank, California when the incident happened. Reports said Smith was already seated when the plane’s pilot kicked him out for “posing risk to other passengers.”
In a statement, Southwest said that it is company policy to not allow a passenger to ride its planes “if a customer cannot comfortably lower the armrest and infringes on a portion of another seat.” The company offered an apology and a $ 100 voucher to the director. The apology and the freebie, however, failed to appease Smith.
The Mallrats director immediately went on Twitter after the incident, posting numerous angry messages against Southwest. “I saw someone bigger than me on THAT flight! But I wasn’t about to throw a fellow Fatty under the plane as I’m being profiled,” he said in one of his twits.
Smith, who has been battling weight problem for a long time, said the incident embarrassed him and admitted that “I am fat,” but insisted that he broke no regulation and did not pose any risk to other passengers.
