The new advertising campaign was launched just last week with a theme titled “Vegas Enablers.” Starting with a “History of Friendship, ” with a concept that is a variation of the original “What Happens Here” theme. It will be featuring three TV commercials that will be airing through May 2014.
“The campaign has evolved from giving visitors permission to live their fantasies, to a celebration of those who facilitate these experiences – the ‘Vegas Enabler.’ Everyone should have a ‘Vegas Enabler’ in their life, that person who encourages you to let your hair down, and the new campaign applauds these people,” said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).
The first “What Happens Here, Stays Here” commercials were shot in 2002 and became famous after being rejected from showing during Super Bowl and it suddenly became known as the ad that NFL doesn’t want you to see, giving Las Vegas lots of publicity. Since then the well-known advertising campaign has been parodied by SNL, named one of the top 10 best destination marketing campaigns and also was the inspiration for The Hangover movies.
