17 die in Aria Air plane crash in Iran

At least 17 people were killed and 21 injured Friday when a passenger plane crash-landed in northeastern Iran— the country’s second air disaster in less than two weeks.

According to Press TV, the Russian-made Ilyushin from Aria Air caught fire and skidded into walls near the runway during its emergency landing in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.

There were 160 passengers and crew members on board.

Images obtained by the English-language satellite channel show the cockpit and front part of the fuselage totally damaged.

On July 15, a Caspian Airlines plane crashed on a flight from Tehran to Armenia, killing all 168 on board.
