The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), hosted by Britain’s Russell Brand, will take place tonight (September 13) at the Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Last year, the 34-year-old comedian hosted for the first time, where he poked fun at the Jonas Brothers‘ vow of purity, among other ribald moments.

Of course MTV networks from around the globe will be offering live coverage of the ceremony but for those without access to television, there are still options. A lot of radio stations will broadcast the event live and it will also be streamed online on numerous websites. But expect poor images and continuous buffering as there is a strong chance that many servers will become overloaded.

Aside from performances from our favorite artists, there will be a special tribute to the late King of Pop with a trailer for an upcoming Michael Jackson film, “Michael Jackson: This Is It” showing MJ rehearsing for his London shows.
