2010 Indianapolis 500 [Schedule]

2010 Indianapolis 500The Indianapolis 500 is the most prestigious auto race and largest single-day spectator sporting event in the world. It has taken place every year since 1911 except for 1917-18 and 1942-45 during America’s participation in world wars. This year, it will be the 94th Indianapolis 500 and it is scheduled to be run on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” covers 500 miles, 200 laps on the famous 2.5-mile oval. It currently is the marquee race on the schedule for the IZOD IndyCar Series, the premier open-wheel racing series in North America.

Also, the Indy 500 is the second race of the three-year long Centennial era, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the 100th anniversary of the first Indy 500.
