2011 Asian Cup Final: Japan vs. Australia Live Stream (Free Online Video)
Japan vs. Australia Live Stream: The Socceroos of Australia and the Samurai Blue of Japan go head-to-head in today’s AFC Asian Cup Final at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The Japanese are seeking their fourth Asian Cup title but unfortunately Alberto Zaccheroni’s side will be without midfielder Shinji Kagawa, who broke a bone in his right foot in Tuesday’s semi-final win against South Korea. Kagawa, who also plays for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, scored twice and set up the third in the 3-2 victory.
“It’s very disappointing for the team and him as well,” said Zaccheroni. “He contributed a lot to the team on the way to the final, he was getting better and better so it’s very disappointing.”
Augsburg star Hajime Hosogai was Kagawa’s goal scoring replacement late on against South Korea, and will be hopeful of getting a start in this match.
The Australians, meanwhile, have made it this far, after thrashing Uzbekistan, 6-0. They are ranked No. 26 in FIFA’s world rankings and are full of European league experience. However, prior to the semi-final, this tournament has been really tough for Holger Osieck’s side. Netkeeper Mark Schwarzer, forward Tim Cahill and midfielder Harry Kewell will need to step up in order to beat the three-time champions.
Meanwhile, Manchester United star Park Ji-Sung has retired from international football after receiving his 100th cap with South Korea. Coach Cho Kwang-Rae did not feature him in his squad on Friday’s third-place game against Uzbekistan, which the Taegeuk Warriors won 3-2.
UPDATE: Japan defeated Australia 1-0 in the final of the 2011 Asian Cup, thanks to a brilliant left-footed volley from Tadanari Lee in the second period of extra time.
