2011 Super Bowl Commercials
For a spot in this year’s Big Game, companies are paying more than $3 million, not counting production costs. The match between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers is a chance for companies to pitch about 100 million viewers, and Fox, which is broadcasting Super Bowl XLV, said it had sold out of ad inventory in late October.
A lot of people are not really big football fans, but they watch the Super Bowl every year for the commercials. Hands down the best Super Bowl commercial of 2010 was Betty White and Abe Vigoda in a Snickers ad that makes the case that “you’re not you when you’re hungry.” This year, many of the ads have already leaked online, so instead of waiting until Sunday, we give you some of them. My favorite is Volkswagen’s ad featuring a child dressed up as Darth Vader using the Force on his dad’s Passat.
