It was a clean sweep for Adele at the 54th annual Grammy Awards!

The British soul-pop phenomenon triumphed in her return to music’s stage, grabbing six Grammys and winning every category in which she was nominated, including album of the year for 21.

Adele thanked her doctors “who brought my voice back” as she accepted one of the six gilded gramophone statuettes. The 23-year-old from North London, who had vocal cord surgery in the fall, showed no signs of wavering during her performance of her smash hit “Rolling In The Deep” at the packed Staples Centers in Los Angeles.

The Foo Fighters were big winners as well, nabbing five Grammys, including best rock album for Wasting Light, best hard rock/metal performance for “White Limo” and best rock song for “Walk”. Kanye West, who was a no-show at the event (which seemed quite bizarre considering he had seven nominations), received four awards. Bon Iver won best alternative album and best new artist, while Chris Brown celebrated a grand victory when he accepted the best R&B album for F.A.M.E.

But nobody had a more unenviable task last night than Jennifer Hudson. With a very short notice she was tasked with honoring her idol, Whitney Houston, by delivering an emotional and powerful rendition of the pop icon’s signature hit, “I Will Always Love You.”
