PHILIPPINES — To guarantee the safety of about 6,000 guests and avoid a stampede, security measures have been put in place for Manny Pacquiao’s 30th birthday party, a Gen. Santos City police official said.

“I’m worried about a stampede. They prepared packed meals for about 5,000 to 6,000, but I am expecting more than 10,000 at the oval plaza,” Senior Superintendent Robert Po said.

There will be two venues for Pacquiao’s birthday bash — the oval plaza and the activity center of the KCC Mall.

Aside from the food—six roasted cows and 25 lechons (roasted pigs), Pacquiao has invited various VIPs and local celebrities. He also asked Marco Antonio Barrera, David Diaz and Edwin Valero to join the party.
