A nine-year-old boy from Madrid has become one of the youngest authors in the world with the publication of his book Thok, the Vain Dragon.

Manuel Alguacil’s 38-page fantasy tale, inspired by J. R .R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and J. K. Rowling’s books, has made him the toast of the Spanish literary set.

“When I grow up I want to be an astronaut, and if I can’t I want to be an archaeologist or a writer,” he told Times Online.

The book is about a baby dragon that looks in the mirror and thinks he is ugly. He hides until his mother reassures him that he is only growing up, and the young dragon learns to stop being vain.

  • New age kids are really very sharp minded! I was reading in a newspaper that a three year old girl purchased some kind of hardware worth $20,000 from ebay while her mom was sleeping, When her mom woke up and read her emails she was shocked and canceled the order right away! this is the new generation for you!
