A Nightmare on Elm Street Topples How to Train Your Dragon

A-Nightmare-on-Elm-Street-2010Comeback kid How to Train Your Dragon placed second this weekend to horror movie A Nightmare on Elm Street. Nightmare posted 32.9 million dollars versus the 10.6 million dollars by Dragon.

The remake stars Jackie Earle Haley as the bladed glove, disfigured serial killer Freddy Krueger. The film is intended as a reboot of the series. The movie has generated positive reviews from several critics. The original movie, which was shown in 1984, has spawned several sequels.

Dragon ranked first during its first and fifth weekend and weekly races. It ranked 3rd, 3rd and 2nd in its 2nd, 3rd and 4th weekend battles. It currently has 388 million dollars sales worldwide. The rank and sales posted by Dragon is really a surprise for movie analysts.

“This one has held up better than anyone would’ve thought,” said senior box-office analyst Jeff Bock.

Meanwhile, Date Night remained at number 3 while The Backup Plan fell from 2nd to 4th.
