A reconnaissance drone that looks like a miniature Death Star [VIDEO]
Japan has produced a lot of amazing stuff over the years, and drones small enough for navigating stairs and window frames would be fairly high up on the list.
This spherical flying robot is 42 centimeters in diameter, 350 grams in weight and can fly for about eight minutes at speeds of 40 mph. It relies on one propeller for thrust and eight separate wings for control. But perhaps the best characteristic of this reconnaissance drone is the ability to land by just smacking into the ground and rolling to a stop to absorb the impact.
And how much did the Japanese military spend on something as cool as this? According to reports, the components of the spy robot only cost around $1000. Now I want one for my birthday.
