ABC Makes Early Renewals for Six Shows

Castle_title_cardABC channel has renewed six of its shows. Of the six programs, three are on its sophomore season.

Currently running on their second season, Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle have been renewed for a third season.

Joining the three shows are Private Practice (for a fifth season), Castle (for a fourth season) and Grey’s Anatomy (for an eighth season).

“That’s a core part of our schedule,” said ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee about these renewals.

Shows that still need a signal for a new season are Desperate Housewives (currently in seventh season) and Brothers & Sisters (currently in fifth season). Lee said in regards to the two shows that they “have not made a decision yet” and that they we’ll see as they go forward.

No assurance for freshman series Detroit 1-8-7 either. Lee quips though that the show is very popular in Detroit.
