Actress Dixie Carter of “Designing Women” dies
Actress Dixie Carter has died. She was 70.
The entertainment show “The Insider” featured her husband of 26 years, Hal Holbrook, saying: “This has been a terrible blow to our family. We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy.”
The Emmy-award winning actress is widely known for playing Julia Sugarbaker, a tough and catty liberal, in the hit TV-series “Designing Women.” She also won an award for her memorable character as Gloria Hodge in Desperate Housewives.
As of press time, the cause of her death remains undisclosed.
