American Idol: Adam Lambert sings ‘Whole Lotta Love’ (video)

It’s Rock Night on Idol with Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Saul Hudson (better known by the stage name Slash) serving as guest mentor.

As far as we know, the 43-year-old musician has never been much of a singer. So what wisdom will he convey to a bunch of aspiring pop stars?

Stage presence. Attitude. Longevity.

Slash used to be a degenerate bad ass, the kind of guy that, when on TV, your mother would look away in disgust. But he can surely uplift the confidence of the remaining four finalists when it comes to their performances. Rock music is about authenticity. It doesn’t need sugar coating and pop flavor as a matter of fact.

Tonight, Adam Lambert proved once more why he should be crowned this year’s American Idol, with a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. He’s got the perfect vocal for this. Great performance!

Despite landing in the bottom three last week, Adam impressed Slash. He wrote on his Twitter account Saturday that he thought the finalists, especially Adam, could sing their butts off.

He can sing… there’s no question about it. His rock wail just irritates me.

Randy: You should make a record with Slash!

Kara: You are a rock god!

Paula: Superstar!

Simon: One of my favorite performances.
