Adele Receives 4 AMA Nominations

A British singing sensation leads the nominees for this year’s American Music Awards.

English singer Adele bagged four nods in nominations announced on Tuesday, doing one better than perennial awards nominees Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Lil Wayne. Also receiving three nominations was country group The Band Perry. Adele will square off with Perry, Gaga, Swift, and Wayne for Artist of the Year. The 23-year-old North Londoner was also nominated for favorite rock/pop female artist, favorite adult contemporary artist, and favorite pop album of the year for “21.”

Adele, Gaga, and Perry are also competing in the favorite pop/rock female artist. On the other hand, it’s Gaga’s “Born This Way,” and Rihanna’s “Loud” that are up against Adele’s “21.” In other categories, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Pitbull are in the running for pop/rock male artist, while Maroon 5, LMFAO, and OneRepublic are nominated in the favorite pop/rock band/dou/group.

The American Music Awards 2011 will be broadcast by ABC from Los Angeles on November 20.
