AFC Challenge Cup: Philippine Azkals beat Mongolia, 2-0 (VIDEO)
Emelio Caligdong‘s s first half goal and Phil Younghusband‘s stoppage time strike gave the Philippines a 2-0 victory over Mongolia Wednesday night in the first leg of their AFC Challenge Cup qualifying match at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Caligdong slammed home the opening goal in the 42nd minute, sending the hometown crowd to a frenzy. However, Mongolia’s amazing defense made it hard for the Azkals to make a follow-up in the second half. With three minutes in stoppage time, Younghusband sealed the win for the Filipinos as the former Chelsea player struck one right in between the Mongolian defense.
The victory gives the Azkals enough cushion as they travel to Ulan Bator for the second leg of the match on March 15.
