Al Gore and Wife Tipper Gore Announces Split

Gore-and-ClintonFormer Vice President Al Gore and his wife, former Second Lady Tipper Gore, are headed towards separation after announcing their split after 40 years of marriage.

Their official statement is as follows:

“We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate. This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”

The statement was also confirmed from the office of Al and Tipper Gore, which reiterated that there will be no further comments.

The couple lives in Tennessee. They have four children. They have just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary two weeks ago. Tipper Gore is a professional photographer.

Al Gore served as the second highest official in the United States during the eight year term of former President Bill Clinton. He ran for the presidency in 2000. He won the popular vote but eventually lost the electoral vote to George W. Bush.
