Allen Iverson’s Wife Files for Divorce

Trouble seems to be hounding former NBA star Allen Iverson these days. Just days after ending his season with the Philadelphia 76ers, and probably his NBA career, the former All-star guard received another emotional blow. Tawanna Iverson, the basketball player’s wife of eight and a half years, filed for divorce, saying that their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

Aside from the usual alimony demand, Tawanna also wants full custody of their children and child support. The couple has five children. Iverson took a leave of absence from the Philadelphia 76ers late last month to attend to her reportedly sick daughter, four-year old Messiah. The 76ers announced earlier this week that the former NBA scoring leader will no longer return this season.

Iverson signed with the 76ers in November after playing only three games with the Memphis Grizzlies, who hired him after a brief retirement. He was selected as a starter in this year’s All-Star Game but gave up his spot to be with his ailing daughter.
