AMA Awards 2011: Taylor Swift Rules

Taylor Swift proved once again that she is the most popular music artist of her generation, as she won three trophies at the AMA Awards 2011 on Sunday, including the coveted Artist of the Year honor.

Swift actually tied with British singer Adele for the most AMA Awards 2011 trophies, but the 21-year-old country crooner clearly was the star of the show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The AMA Awards give recognition to the most popular artists of the year as the fans themselves determine who goes home with a trophy.

Aside from the Artist of the Year trophy, Swift also bagged awards for Favorite Country Female Artist and Favorite Country Album for “Speak Now.” On the other hand, Adele took home the Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album, and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist.

Nicki Minaj dominated the Rap/Hip-Hop categories as she ran away with the artist and album trophies. Other winners included Bruno Mars (Pop/Rock Male Artist), Maroon 5 (Pop/Rock Band), Lady Antebellum (Country Band), and Foo Fighters (Alternative Artist). Katy Perry was given a AMA Awards 2011 recognition for her five number one singles off her “Teenage Dream” album.
