Tonight’s theme on “American Idol” is “Songs of the Cinema” and director Quentin Tarantino is this week’s mentor.

Adam Lambert sang Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild,” soundtrack from the 1969 film “Easy Rider” starring Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson.

His performance was okay, but his rock wail is beginning to irritate me. Simon liked the vocal but warned that Adam probably turned off a large segment of the audience. Too “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” Simon said, adding that it won’t be as popular as last week’s performance.

Steppenwolf is a rock band from Toronto, Canada that helped establish heavy metal music in the late 60s. The band enjoyed global success from 1968 to 1974, but creative differences led to the end of the core lineup. Today, lead singer John Kay is the only original member left.

Adam was INCREDIBLE tonight. He sealed the deal for me. He's the only reason I can stand to watch AI this season, and the only one I want to spend money on--most of the others are karaoke compared to Adam.

Talk about a biased observation. You remind of me a little old man saying turn down the music or you know I just don't get those kids today and that boogey woogey music. Adam's performance ROCKED! What would you like for every performance from every artist for the rest of your life be some dreary ballad? But, of course you would.
  • American Idol ADAM played Arty on Home Improvement Nick at nite on NOW & thought it was odd Night 1 he was the ONLY 1 with special effects!!!
