American Idol: Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens Eliminated

No thanks to his “lazy and predictable” interpretation of Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog,” Andrew Garcia was given the first boot on American Idol‘s double-elimination night on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Garcia failed to impress America on Tuesday’s Elvis night, with judge Randy Jackson calling his performance “not good karaoke.” The musician and father from Moreno, California, however, took his loss in stride, saying that he appreciated his experience on Idol. “”I’m glad I’ve been through what I’ve been through,” he said to the crowd.

Katie Stevens was the second person to get eliminated, losing to Tim Urban and Michael Lynche, whose being saved last week resulted in today’s double elimination. Stevens was predicted to go home this week after her poor rendition of “Baby What You Want Me To Do,” which Simon Cowell described as “shrieky and annoying.”

Adam Lambert, this week’s mentor, hogged the spotlight as he performed tonight. Last year’s runner up blew the crowd away when he performed after the first elimination.
