At least 31 dead in bomb blast at Moscow airport
An apparent suicide bombing rocked Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport on Monday afternoon. There were conflicting reports on the number of casualties, but according to Reuters at least 31 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in the blast that went off in the international arrivals hall.
The explosion occurred at 1332 GMT and authorities are investigating reports of more than one bomber, local media reported. As police went on high alert around Russia’s capital city, President Dmitry Medvedev ordered that security be tightened at all of the country’s airports and transportation hubs.
The attack was the worst in Moscow since at least last March, when two female suicide bombers set off bombs in the city subway that killed 40 people.
