ATP World Tour Finals: Davydenko defeats Del Potro
ATP World Tour Singles Finals: Del Potro vs Davydenko – Nikolay Davydenko takes on Juan Martin del Potro in Sunday’s championship of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Davydenko, who reached the final last year in Shanghai (l. to Djokovic), is trying to become the first Russian in tournament history (since 1970) to capture the year-end title. Besides Davydenko’s runner-up effort last year, Yevgeny Kafelnikov was a finalist in 1997 (l. to Sampras).
Juan Martin del Potro is looking to become the third Argentine to win the year-end championships at 21 years old, after David Nalbandian in 2005 and Guillermo Vilas in 1974.
ATP World Tour No. 7 Nikolay Davydenko capped a dream week Sunday as he defeated Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 6-4 to capture the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals trophy at The O2 in south-east London.
