ATP World Tour Finals: Federer vs. Del Potro
ATP World Tour Finals: Federer vs. Del Potro – World No. 1 Roger Federer will be going against US Open champion and No. 5 seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the 3rd cycle of the round robin in London at Barclay’s ATP World Tour Finals, Thursday night.
The Swiss superstar leads their head-to-head series 6-1. Roger Federer is 2-0 in round robin play so far while del Potro is currently at 1-1.
If Federer defeats del Potro, both Federer and Murray would qualify for the semi-finals since Murray defeated Verdasco. If del Potro were to win in straight sets against the Swiss, Murray and del Potro would both go through. However, if the Argentine were to prevail in three sets, the tie between Federer, Murray and del Potro, who would all be on a 5-4 sets score, would be broken by the game’s win-loss percentage.
UPDATE: Roger Federer squeezed into the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Finals despite a 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3 defeat by Juan Martin del Potro. The result meant that Del Potro, Federer and Andy Murray were all level in terms of matches won in Group A, but the Scot was eliminated as a result of winning the least amount of games in the tournament overall.
