Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan dead at 28

The Grim Reaper has claimed another one.

Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Owen Sullivan died on Monday at his home in southern California, according to a statement on the band’s official website. He was 28.

A few sources are reporting he died of natural causes.

“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan,” the band stated on its site. “Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother.”

Sullivan also performed as a backup vocalist for Avenged Sevenfold, which formed in Huntington Beach in 1999. The group won Best New Artist at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. According to their MySpace page, the band was working on their fifth studio album.
