Lil Wayne must be thanking his problematic teeth to high heavens after a Manhattan judge agreed to delay until next month the start of the rapper’s one-year sentence on a gun possession case. Assistant District Attorney Joan Illuzi-Orbon found merit on Lil Wayne’s motion to delay the sentencing due to a “medically necessary oral surgery.” The rapper appeared in court with his lawyer Stacey Richman.

The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., will be sentenced on March 2. He was charged with a felony gun possession last year in connection with his arrest three years ago just outside Beacon Theater in New York City. In that incident, police officers found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic on his tour bus. Wayne pleaded guilty to the charge and agreed to serve one year in Rikers Island prison. He would have faced at least 3 years in prison had he pleaded not guilty and defended his case in court.

That’s pretty funny. I can’t believe they would let him wait because of something like that. I mean, I think it’s cool and everything, but doesn’t it seem a bit less-important. I guess it depends what was wrong with his teeth, but still.. just strange.
