Beatles Now Available on iTunes
Apple and the Beatles have finally reached an agreement after years of on-and-off negotiations, paving the way for the entry of the Fab Four’s records into the catalogue of the very popular iTunes.
Apple announced the deal on Tuesday and immediately started selling Beatles songs on iTunes. Within hours of their availability, Beatles records were some of the highest-selling items of the day on the online Apple music store. Among those being offered on iTunes is a special boxed set compilation that includes all Beatles albums and the movie of the legendary British rock band’s first-ever concert in the U.S.
The deal comes after several years of dispute between Apple Inc. and the combined forces of Beatles record label EMI Group and the band’s management company Apple Corps. The negotiations were also marked by a hard-fought trademark dispute between Apple Inc. and Apple Corps., although the opposing parties eventually agreed in 2007 to both use the apple logo and name.
