Ben Roethlisberger Escapes Sexual Assault Charges
No charges will be filed against Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger after the district attorney tasked to investigate a sexual assault complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman found the case lacking in merit. Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright said the accusation against Roethlisberger could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt based on the evidence and testimonies presented.
Although Bright hinted that Roethlisberger may have displayed inappropriate actions, he said that “the overall circumstances do not lead to a viable prosecution.” “”We do not prosecute morals. We prosecute crimes.”
In a press conference, Roethlisberger said he was “happy to put this behind me and move forward,” adding that he does not intend to talk about the Georgia incident anymore. He instead promised to concentrate on performing better for the Steelers. “I am excited to get back to work with my teammates, and I’m more determined than ever to have a great season.”
Last month, a 20-year-old student accused Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her after several drinks in a popular Georgia bar.
