Bill Gates Still America’s Richest, Zuckerberg Moves Up

Forbes magazine has released its latest list of America’s 400 richest people, with Bill Gates of Microsoft and investor Warren Buffett still leading the pack.

However, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg made the biggest splash as he overtook Apple top man Steve Jobs for the first time. Zuckerberg, 26, is now estimated by Forbes to be worth around $6.9 billion, making him the 35th richest American. Jobs, who is also the founder of Pixar Animation Studios, dropped to no.42 with $6.1 billion.

Meanwhile, Gates, 54, remained the richest of the rich with an estimated worth of $54 billion, $9 billion richer than 80-year-old Buffet. In third place is Oracle’s Larry Ellison with $27 billion. Ellison is followed by Christy Walton, currently the richest among the Waltons of Walmart with $24 billion in estimated net worth. Brothers David and Charles Koch are tied for fifth place with $21.5 billion each.

Jim, Alice, and S. Robson Walton occupy seventh to ninth places with $20.1 billion, $20 billion, and $19.7 billion, respectively. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg rounds out the top ten with $18 billion in net worth.
