Bill O’Reilly Slams Jen Aniston on Single Motherhood Comment
Jennifer Aniston has just found herself a new enemy. The often acerbic political commentator Bill O’Reilly dedicated a significant amount of time of his FoxNews show this week to castigate Aniston for saying in an interview that women do not need men to have children.
O’Reilly said that Aniston’s statement was “destructive to our society” as it sends the wrong message to young children. “She’s throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, ‘Hey you don’t need a guy. You don’t need a dad,” O’Reilly said. O’Reilly’s rant was seconded by FoxNews anchor Gretchen Carlson, who said that Aniston “is glamorizing single parenthood.”
Over the weekend, Aniston said during a press conference to promote her new movie, “Switch,” that “women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child.” The actress was in part referring to her character in “Switch” who decides to become a mother by using a sperm donor. Aniston also said that she believes the traditional family of “mother, father, two children and a dog named Spot,” does not have the monopoly of raising healthy kids.
