Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys to Perform at World Cup Eve Concert
The concert at the eve of one of the world’s most anticipated events will feature world class entertainers.
Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys will lead the performances at the concert that the 2010 World Cup organizers are preparing for on the night of June 10, the eve of the event’s opening.
The World Cup will be staged for the first time in Africa from June 11 until July 11.
Other performers include John Legend, Benin-born Angelique Kidjo, Mali nationals Amadou & Miriam, South African Parlotones, Tuareg desert blues band Tinariwen and Colombian musician Juanes. It will also feature various African artists and past and present football legends.
The concert will be produced by Emmy award winner Kevin Wall via his company Control Room.
Net proceeds will go to 20 Centers for 2010, the Cup’s official social campaign, which is aimed at developing 20 centers for health care, education and sports facilities across Africa. The stadium can accommodate around 30,000 spectators.
