Blackberry Tablet Rumors Back on the News
Rumors about a Blackberry tablet resurfaced after an interview with the managing director of Rodman & Renshaw on the would-be device’s specifications.
Ashok Kumar said in an interview with CNET News that “Research In Motion (RIM) is trying to pull forward the launch of the 7-inch touchscreen tablet from early next year to year end…with a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing.”
RIM refuses to comment. The company would be competing against Apple iPad, which is already way ahead in sales. RIM is already competing with Apple in the smartphone arena in the form of Blackberry Storm versus iPhone.
Other details of the rumor include that the tablet will be powered by a 1 GHz processor. The best candidate for that is Marvell 1GHz Armada 610 processor. It is a processor specifically aimed at tablets, mobile Internet devices, and electronic book readers. It has HD 1080p playback, 16-megapixel image captures, and advanced 3D graphics.
