BNP Paribas Open Finals: Roddick vs. Ljubicic (UPDATED)
Indian Wells Finals: Roddick vs. Ljubicic – American Andy Roddick will meet Croatian Ivan Ljubicic in the finals of the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday.
Roddick will try to win his second ATP World Tour title this year after defeating Robin Soderling 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 on Saturday. Roddick had lost 3 Indian Wells semifinals including last year’s match against Rafael Nadal. Since 2001, no American man has won the singles at Indian Wells and Roddick will try to break that title drought.
On the other hand, Ljubicic will try to achieve his first title in the United States who defeated defending champion Rafael Nadal in just three sets. The 31-year-old Croatian aims to be the second-oldest tournament winner after Jimmy Connors who is 31 years ad 5 months in 1984.
The Indian Wells champion will take home $605,500 together with 1,000 South African Airways 2010 ATP Ranking points while the runner-up will bag $295,500 and 600 points.
