Bowersox Impresses in Final “Idol” Performance Night
Crystal Bowersox, overshadowed by Lee DeWyze last week, returned with a vengeance on Tuesday, getting nothing but praise for all three songs she performed on the second-to-the-last night of “American Idol“. While Bowersox had the audience and judges gushing, DeWyze was criticized for failing to deliver his best. The reversal of fortune on Tuesday could mean that no one has the clear upper hand going into tomorrow’s final day.
Bowersox performed “Black Velvet,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” and “Up to the Mountain,” which judge Simon Cowell called “by far the best performance and the song of the night.” Cowell, who will be leaving the show at the end of the season, added that “since this is going to be the final critique I’m ever gonna give, I would just like to say that was outstanding.”
However, the critics were not too enarmored with DeWyze tonight, with judge Randy Jackson urging the paint shop employee to “pick it up, pick it up … Get some more energy going” after he delivered his own version of Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer.”
The “American Idol” season 9 champion will be known at the end of Wednesday two-hour finale.
