‘Breaking Dawn’ Film to be Split in Two

Breaking_Dawn_coverFollowing into the footsteps of the film adaptation of the Harry Potter series, the film adaptation of the final book in the Twilight Saga will also be split into two movies.

The announcement came from distributor Summit Entertainment Thursday, June 10.

The news is nothing new as it has been speculated for several months now that such will be the case. The book, when it was released, has 900 pages and many believed, including the studio, that it is too complex to be fit into just one movie.

However, the cast of the series were only signed for four movies and had to undergo negotiations with them before they can announce the plan. Main characters Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are all returning for the remaining two installments.

The first part has a target release date of November 18, 2011. The second part has no confirmed date yet, but it will be most likely in 2012.

The third film in the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, will be released on June 30.
