Meet Shaun Smith, the 17-year-old A-level student from Staffordshire, who captivated the judges and brought the audience to their feet on last night’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent.

Shaun belted out Ain’t No Sunshine and was an instant hit with three yeses. As all his rugby pals rose to their feet, Simon bizarrely compared him to Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall. Then he told him: “I genuinely wasn’t expecting that. You’ve got a very authentic sounding voice.”

But Amanda had some words of criticism, “take your hand out your pocket and believe in yourself as your body language is saying ‘I’m crap’ but your voice is saying you’re brilliant, believe in yourself”.
