The Open Championship, or often referred to as the British Open outside the UK,  is the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf.

The British Open is the only major golf tournament held outside the United States. This year’s British Open will be played starting today, July 16 (Friday) until July 17 (Sunday).

The Open is the third major golf championship to take place every year after The Masters and the U.S. Open and before the PGA Championship. It is being held at Turnberry Resort (Ailsa Course) – South Ayrshire, Scotland.

Tiger Woods will hunt for his fourth British Open title this year. Woods together with 2008 Champion Padraig Harrington, have won the last four British Open titles, each winning two in a row.
