Buzz Aldrin Bows Out of “Dancing with the Stars”
No surprises this week on “Dancing with the Stars,” as the show said goodbye to its second celebrity contestant. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin and professional partner Ashly Costa were sent packing on the second elimination night of DWTS, as the 80-year-old Apollo 11 astronaut followed former Beverly Hill 902010 star Shannen Doherty into the sidelines.
Aldrin, who did the waltz in his last performance, said that joining “Dancing with the Stars” was farther from his mind than walking on the moon. “I never thought I’d walk on the moon, but I certainly never thought I’d dance on TV.”
For the second-straight week, reality star Kate Gosselin was part of the bottom three, along with Jake Pavelka. However, Gosselin was the first to be called safe. Pavelka, on the other hand, expected himself to be the next to go, but was surprised to find out that he will be dancing one more time.
The nine remaining celebrity contestants will return on Monday, with the scoring getting more complicated. Starting next week, judges will give two scores for each pair, one for technique and the other for overall performance.
