To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Doraemon movie franchise, Japan Airlines will begin operating the “Doraemon Jet” — a Boeing 777-300 decorated with vibrant images of Doraemon characters — on domestic routes.
But can this robotic cat from the future save the cash-strapped airline? Well, we hope so.
JAL, Asia’s biggest carrier, is reportedly set to file for bankruptcy protection on January 19, and later shed more than 15,000 jobs, about a third of its workforce.
Aside from the Doraemon Jet, JAL will also launch Doraemon-themed tours, as well as a Doraemon kids’ corner at airports and limited-edition Doraemon merchandise through their in-flight catalog.
