Caressa Cameron is Miss America 2010

Miss America 2010Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron has been named Miss America 2010 after telling the audience to “take away the TV, take away the video games, set some standards for our children!” in order to solve childhood obesity.

The Fredericksburg native and Virginia Commonwealth University communications major elicited cheers from the crowd in Las Vegas after she gave her determined answer to the question of how she could end childhood obesity, which has been plaguing the US for years now.

Cameron, who won the Miss Virginia crown in June 2009, performed the song Listen from the hit movie Dreamgirls during the talent portion. She is to receive a $ 50,000 scholarship.

Cameron is only the third Virginian to win the Miss America title. Kylene Barker won in 1979 while Nicole Johnson bagged the crown in 1999.
