Carling Cup Semi-final: Manchester United vs. Manchester City
Manchester United takes on big-spending rivals Manchester City in the second leg of tonight’s Carling Cup (League Cup) semi-final.
A victory would take the Citizens to their first major final since the 1981 FA Cup.
Also, two of the hottest strikers in England, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez, go head to head again in one of the biggest derbies Manchester has witnessed. The former teammates clashed in the first leg of the semi-final at Eastlands, when the Argentine forward provoked Rooney into giving him the finger from the touchline.
This will be an intense night of football after City’s 2-1 victory in the first leg and it will be even crazier on the pitch. Riot police will be present as there are fears rival fans will clash as the Red Devils and Roberto Mancini’s team collide.
Since Mancini’s arrival, the Citizens have lost just once in seven games and are clearly serious contenders in the race to finish fourth in the Premier League.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s mood may have darkened when he learned that Rio Ferdinand is facing a charge for allegedly elbowing Craig Fagan during last weekend’s triumph over Hull.
