Carmelo Anthony Open to Knicks Trade

Carmelo Anthony is reportedly amenable to leaving the Rockies for the Big Apple if he and the Denver Nuggets decide to part ways in the coming NBA season.

According to Sports Illustrated, the New York Knicks are high on Anthony’s list if the Nuggets trade the 26-year-old All-Star. Anthony is rumored to be on the trading block due to his hesitation to accept a three-year, $65-million extension offer from the Nuggets. The three-time All-Star, who is considered the Nuggets’ franchise player, is reportedly looking for a way out of Denver, according to reports. Anthony will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2010-2011 season if decides not to exercise his player option, but the Nuggets are reportedly considering trading their top player this year rather than see him go next year without getting something back in return.

Aside from the Knicks, Anthony is reportedly also interested in moving to Houston or New Jersey. However, a final decision on Anthony’s case might not come soon as the Nuggets are hoping to first fill up two executive positions left vacant by Rex Chapman and Mark Warkentien before deciding what to do with the high-scoring small forward.
