Catch Hollywood’s glamour during the Oscars (Live Video Streaming)
Stars and the elite of the film world are gathering for the biggest movie event of the year—The Oscars.
The 81st Annual Academy Awards begins tonight at 8:30 from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles with Hugh Jackman hosting for the first time.
This year’s ceremony has been dominated by the Bollywood-inspired film “Slumdog Millionaire” although period drama “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” will start the night with the most nominations, 13, compared to 10 for “Slumdog.”
Among those up for awards include Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke and Brad Pitt – who are all vying for the best actor trophy.
Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Meryl Streep are among the nominees for best actress.
The late Australian actor, Heath Ledger, was expected to become only the second actor in history to win a posthumous Oscar for his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight“.
In the supporting actress category, Penelope Cruz was the favorite to become the first Spanish actress to win an Academy Award for her performance in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona“.
After last year’s Oscars delivered their worst TV ratings ever, producers this time say they aim to liven up the show with some surprises and new ways of presenting awards.
