A week after rumors of Miley Cyrus dying in an automobile crash, one of the tour busses of the teen icon carrying crew members crashed on an embankment leaving the driver dead.

The driver Bill Douglas died on the spot. Nine of the passengers suffered injuries. The bus flipped in Interstate 85 near Richmond, Virginia on its way to a Cyrus show in Greensboro, North Carolina scheduled Sunday. Cyrus was not aboard the bus when the incident happened as the bus is one of the four bus entourage.

Miley Cyrus and family issued an official statement from the star’s website mileycyrus.com. The statement was, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill ‘Uncle Bill’ Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed.”

Investigation on why the bus flipped is still ongoing as of this time.

Miley Cyrus Crew Bus Kills One, Injures Nine Others

The second movie of the Twilight saga New Moon broke two records on its first day and is positioned to break even more as it goes on its second day.

The movie broke the biggest midnight opening grossing $26.3 million in 3,514 theaters eclipsing previous record of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at $22.2 million in its midnight release. Another record broken is the biggest advanced ticket seller for the Fandango corporation. Previous holder was Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith.

The movie is expected to break more records. As of 5 PM, the movie already grossed $50 million threatening the biggest single day box office record of The Dark Knight, which stands at $67.2 million.

It might enter the top 5 of biggest weekend sales if it reaches above $114 million, which is probable since the film is expected to open in 4,024 theaters this weekend.

Worldwide records projection stand that the movie is at $150 million after New Moon debut in 25 other countries.

“New Moon” Breaking Records

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is expected to announce today, November 20, that she will end her current show on September 9, 2011 after being on air for 25 years since 1986. The reason: to concentrate on the start of her own network.

The coming of this final show has been the topic of several rumors ever since Winfrey announced January last year that she partnered with Discovery to open a new cable network named OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). It is expected to finally start broadcasting in 2011 to 75 million homes. It is believed that, if not a revamped version, then a new talk show will be hosted by Oprah on OWN.

Winfrey’s production company, Harpo, Inc., confirmed the decision of the host to end the show after its current contract expires. The company produced shows of Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz.

Several national and local networks stand to lose ratings and revenues once the program is pulled out. CBS syndicates the show while ABC broadcasts it.

Oprah Winfrey Will End Her Current Show on September 2011

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp won his second title of Sexiest Man Alive from People Magazine. Only three other men won it twice previously, namely: Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Richard Gere. No three-time winner yet. Gere, however, won his first title as part of the Sexiest Couple Alive title with Cindy Crawford back in 1993.

Depp dethrones 2008 winner Hugh Jackman. He beat out 15 other finalists to win back the title that he previously held in 2003. New Moon star Robert Pattinson is said to be in the top 15.

People described him as “the king of cool with the killer cheekbones.” The magazine, however, was more drawn to Depp’s softer side as a family man.

Previous winners include John F. Kennedy, Jr., Sean Connery, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Affleck, Jude Law, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Damon.

The mag has awarded the title annually since 1985 with an exception in 1994. It started when a planned article for Mel Gibson made a female editor to exclaim, “Oh my God, he is the sexiest man alive!” Then someone else said, “You should use that as a cover line.” Gibson thus became the first man to receive the coveted title.

Johnny Depp is Sexiest Man Alive

The new chief of Walt Disney Studios pulled the plug from the $150 million project Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It was the last project that the previous chief Dick Cook had approved.

New Chief Rich Ross stopped production of the film and has shelved the project indefinitely. $10 million were already spent in hiring crews that was supposed to start building sets in Rosarito Beach. It was reported that a generous amount was already spent to hire Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon to write the Nemo story. Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation director McG was supposed to direct while Will Smith was supposed to be Captain Nemo (he turned it down previously).

The movie was supposed to be the next franchise story for Disney, following Pirates of the Caribbean. Incidentally, the focus now of what will be the next big, “water-based” story that will replace Captain Nemo is the fourth installment of Pirates.

The story was to focus as a prequel to the 1954 Disney film 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, which was Walt Disney’s first science fiction film. The story was based from the novel of the same title by Jules Verne.

Disney Stops Filming of Captain Nemo: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

American Idol season 8 finalists are releasing their albums one after the other.

Winner Kris Allen is slated to release his self-titled album Kris Allen on November 17, 2009 under Jive Records. Allen has writing credits in 9 out of the 12 songs featured. It will also be the first time that a “coronation song” would not be featured in a winner’s first post-Idol studio album. No Boundaries maybe out but Allen’s version of Heartless, which was written by Kanye West, will be on the album. He rendered the song during the Top 3 performance night. His latest single Live Like We’re Dying is from this album.

Runner-up Adam Lambert will be next on the list as he is releasing his album For Your Entertainment under RCA Records on November 23, 2009. The lead single shares the name of the album.

Finally, on December 1, 2009, fourth placer Allison Iraheta will release her album Just Like You under Jive Records. Her lead single is Friday I’ll Be Over U.

Top 3 finisher Danny Gokey is under contract with RCA Records Nashville and will be concentrating as a country music singer. His single It’s You is yet to be included in an album.

American Idol Season 8 Finalists Will Release Respective Albums

Death of Miley Cyrus from a car accident involving a large truck surfaced last weekend. Numerous search engine hits were recorded looking for news articles about the incident. No luck as the singer is still alive and the death news just another rumor.

Miley Cyrus, famous for her hit show Hannah Montana where she plays the daughter of real-life father and singer Billy Ray Cyrus, was already featured in a death rumor last July.

Stars are usually the victims of death rumors. Several other celebrities were announced to be dead along Cyrus. Among them Britney Spears, Jeff Goldblum, Harrison Ford and Louie Anderson. Kanye West was reported to have died in a car accident last month.

Major networks and news channels have no reports of any such incidents, however. The only probable thing related to Cyrus that is dead is her Twitter account.

Cyrus has been on a lot of controversies lately including the Vanity Fair shoot and the dance pole performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

Miley Cyrus Death Rumors (again)

Square Enix announced today that the release of the thirteenth installment of one of the highest selling game franchise Final Fantasy in the United States and Europe would be on March 9, 2010. The game will be available for both Playstation 3 and XBox 360 consoles simultaneously.

The Japanese release is slated next month, December 17.

Square Enix CEO and President John Yamamoto said that Final Fantasy XIII “will exceed all expectations.” The game will feature a new “ultimate active time battle system”. This will allow players to carry out many commands in one turn using a multi-slot ATB gauge. Aside being the first title to be released in more than one console, it is also the first title to be presented in high definition.

The game introduces the Paradigms mechanics which enable player to change their characters gameplay roles and the Gestalt mode which enables characters and their summon eidolons to fight as one.

The Final Fantasy series is not slowing down as it has already announced the next installment, Final Fantasy XIV, an MMORPG, last July. It has a tentative release in 2010 for Playstation 3 and Microsoft Windows.

US/EU Release Date for Final Fantasy XIII Released

You may have thought that Schindler’s List was too long, but that’s nothing compared to Gerard Courant’s Cinematon, which took about 30 years to make and runs 150 hours.

This epic film features nothing more than a succession of thousands of people on camera for three and a half minutes, doing exactly as they please. Actors Samuel Fuller and Roberto Benigni and chess grandmaster Joel Lautier are among the famous faces who make appearances. It will be screened in Avignon later this month and in Paris in January.

According to Britain’s Daily Mirror, the movie is completely silent, calling it the “dullest film ever made.”

World’s longest film to be screened in France

Recent photographs of Sosa during an appearance in Las Vegas with his wife Sonia created a buzz. Many are wondering what happened to the former Cubs slugger’s face, looking pale…or should I say whiter than before.

Rumor has it that the former baseball star is suffering from vitiligo like that of Michael Jackson, but Sosa denied it and said that it was his facial cream that made the difference.

“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games,” said the former MLB star, who turns 41 tomorrow. “The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused.”

Recent news reports say that Sosa is considering to endorse the facial cream allegedly responsible for his lighter skin.

“If he feels it is of good quality, it may be something he will be endorsing and marketing in the United States in the near future,” said his rep.

Sammy did not disclose the brand of his skin cream but did say that it is European.

Sammy Sosa’s Face: Before and After

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has denied reports that he smoked cannabis at a London house party recently.

Britain’s Daily Mirror published blurry photos on their front page Friday which they claim show the 20-year-old actor toking on a spliff.

For those who are not familiar with the term spliff, it is a quality cigarette rolled with both tobacco and marijuana, initially popular in Europe. But today the term has been adopted to mean any high quality or well-rolled marijuana joint.

Radcliffe’s spokesperson however insists he’s not smoking what the tabloid says he’s smoking. “We categorically deny the allegations regarding Daniel Radcliffe published in today’s Daily Mirror,” the rep tells People.com. “Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this. We are considering our position and will be taking all necessary action in relation to such allegations.”

Earlier this year, Jamie Waylett, the guy who plays Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe and Draco Malfoy’s sidekick, was charged with illegally growing 10 marijuana plants in his mother’s home.

He was charged shortly before the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Daniel Radcliffe denies smoking pot

Newlywed and recent college grad Tom Sparks died of stroke two weeks after he pulled out from reality game show Wipeout.

The 33-year-old was participating in the first segment of an obstacle course Oct. 19 when he complained of knee pain, according to Endemol. The show’s medics checked him and found that he was having shortness of breath. He was then transferred to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where multiple brain surgeries failed to save his life.

Wipeout’s format is composed of four obstacles with the first and fourth having four sections. Contestants undergo medical examinations before being cleared to participate in the show.

Tom’s father said that his son had a rare clotting disorder which may have caused his death. The family has not contacted Endemol yet.

Wipeout has current and upcoming versions in almost 20 countries like the U.S., Australia, Denmark, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Israel and the Philippines.

Among Endemol’s franchises are Big Brother, Star Academy, Deal or No Deal, Fear Factor and 1 VS 100.

Burger King’s ‘New Moon’ Promo

Alice Cullen, known to those non-Twilight fans as Ashley Greene, looks extremely hot on two different covers of Maxim’s December 2009 issue out on Nov. 17. Two covers? Well, I guess it’s some kind of marketing strategy to get you to buy two copies of the same mag.

Speaking to Maxim, the 22-year-old actress has admitted she dreams of becoming a Bond Girl.

“I want to hit up James Bond,” she confessed. “That would be awesome.”

Ashley is currently learning MMA to be able to fight in a scene in Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight film series. She hopes the preparation will also help her land her dream role in 007’s upcoming adventures.

Regarding her character on the vampire flick, she said: “Oh, my God, I wanted this part so badly! I worked my butt off for it because I absolutely love Alice. “She’s sweet, sexy, and a killer! So when they told me I got it, I tried to play it all cool, you know, for about a minute.”

‘Twilight’ hottie Ashley Greene scorches up the pages of Maxim

Country Music Association (CMA) Awards 2009 took several swipes at Kanye West during its ceremonies in Nashville last Wednesday, November 11, 2009 as Taylor Swift won four awards including top honors Entertainer of the Year.

Country music poked fun at West’s famous interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards last September. Swift who won the Best Female Video award back then, did not finish her speech after West grabbed the microphone from her to express his opinion that Beyonce’s Single Ladies video should have won the award.

Swift performed the opening number at the CMA Awards. Moments later, hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood made their first swipe after they sang “Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to Kanye. Let them pick guitars and drive them old trucks, ‘cause cowboys have manners, they don’t interrupt.” They changed the lyrics from the standard country song “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys,”

Later during the show, Underwood told Paisley that “Welcome To The Future” was “one of my favorite videos of all time.” His co-host then went to proceed to thank his video team but was interrupted by country legend Little Jimmy Dickens who walked into the stage.

The legendary singer, who is already 88, said, “Excuse me! Excuse me sir … I’ll let you finish later. Now Brad Paisley, I know you had a nice video and all that, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time,” to the great amusement of the audience.

Then as the camera panned out to Taylor, Dickens said to her, “You go girl.”
