This watch from Korean design studio MAEZM makes it extremely easy for the wearer to both tell the time and to share the time with others.

As you can see from the photos, the watch display has been moved 90 degrees to make it readable from all angles.

Unfortunately though, this timepiece is just a concept and isn’t available for sale.

Sharing Time Made Simple

Singapore-based ad agency Leo Burnett has a new office space created by local firm Ministry of Design. The interior features a larger than life ‘graffiti’ style portrait of the company’s founder spread across the floor, walls, windows and ceiling of the main entry foyer— with scaled-up model of a pencil bearing the company name.

Burnett was an advertising genius famous for creating such icons as the Jolly Green Giant, the Marlboro Man, Morris the Cat, the Pillsbury Doughboy, and the 7up “Spot.” He was named by TIME magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.

Leo Burnett Office by Ministry of Design

While browsing the web, I came across these devastating photographs which show the effects of pollution on seabirds. The pictures were taken by Chris Jordan on Midway Atoll, an island in the North Pacific Ocean near the Hawaiian archipelago.

These disturbing images show what adult birds are feeding to their young: lighters, bottle caps, perfume bottles. Seabirds (esp. albatross) are dying by the thousands, killed by chunks of plastic they mistake for food.

At first glance, I really believed the pictures were tampered with because the amount of junk in the birds’ decomposing bodies seems incomprehensibly large. But according to the photographer, “not a single piece of plastic in any of these photos was moved, placed, manipulated, arranged, or altered in any way.”

It’s a house carved out of a solid tree trunk!

This amazing cabin, dubbed the “mobile treehouse,” was recently sold on eBay for around $12,000.

Measuring just over 42 feet in length that provides over 450 sq ft of living space, this log house can be used for number of purposes like a private library or guest bedroom.

It’s quite grotty inside but the external view is simply remarkable.

The Mobile Treehouse

I know I’ve already talked about how cool the new iPod Nano 5 is here. We’ve seen some of the new features that made us go “ooohhh” and “aaaaahhhh”. But now I am going to zero in on another 2 features that are not so talked about and sort of taken for granted but will definitely make a big impact in my opinion.

First is the Voice Memo feature. With its new built-in mic, you can now record audio or any sound for that matter. You can record yourself snoring at night or record yourself singing in the bathroom. But on a more important note, you can use this nifty feature to do useful stuff. If you are a student, you can use this to record class lessons. If you are an aspiring audio artist, you can use to record yourself on the go! And the list of things to do with it can go on and on forever.

Another feature I’d like to highlight is the iTunes Tagging feature. If you are a song junkie, you’ve probably had the dilemma of not knowing the title of the song or the artist of the song while listening to the radio. This is a dilemma worth capitalizing on, why? Just imagine its monetization potential. With the iTunes Tagging feature, both the iPod owner and Apple itself benefit. The iPod owner gets to remember the song and probably buy it later from iTunes and Apple resolves the dilemma of “lost” profit due to human frailty (memory lapse remember?).

So again, I’d say this new iPod Nano is a great move for Apple done with finesse and superior style. Bravo!

Journalist Charles Starmer Smith of the Daily Telegraph thought it would be a nice idea to enter a lion’s enclosure in a South African sanctuary. Fortunately he brought along a camera crew to inform all of us that messing around with wild animals is extremely dangerous.

At 6′4″, Forrest Bird, fly high with his invention of the modern medical respirator. His brainchild has given the breath of life to millions of people around the world. The respirator we all know today began with a gizmo he cobbled together to help his friend with emphysema breathe.

The year was 1947 and Bird says he didn’t have the “foggiest” idea that he was on the trail of inventing a device that would become one of the most routine parts of emergency medicine. “I mean, this was seeing a problem and coming up with a rudimentary answer, that was all,” he says.

Forrest Bird’s invention, the respirator, has saved millions and, at age 88, he’s still living his life to the fullest, flying his planes and working long days.

Forrest Bird (born June 9, 1921) is an inventor who developed a prototype mechanical ventilator that is widely used for acute and chronic cardiopulmonary care. The ventilator, invented in 1955, was revised to create a ventilator for infants, the “Babybird.” It is responsible for reduced the rate of breathing-related infant mortality from 70 percent to 10 percent. He has received numerous awards for his scientific innovations, including two Lifetime Scientific Achievement awards. He was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1995. Originally from Massachusetts, Bird now resides in Sagle. In 2007, he opened the Bird Aviation and Invention Museum to showcase his inventions.
