Bloomberg acquires BusinessWeek

As expected, Bloomberg, the global financial news and data provider, has won the bidding for BusinessWeek. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but reports say the company is paying up to $5 million and that it has agreed to assume liabilities, including potential severance payments.

Gay rights activists march on DC (video)

Thousands of people marched on Washington Sunday calling for greater civil rights for gays and lesbians.The National Equality March snaked past the White House and streamed down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol. Many waved rainbow flags or carried signs supporting a wide variety of causes.

At Least 529 Killed by Quake in Indonesia

529 people were confirmed dead and 440 were seriously injured as a result of a second devastating earthquake in western Indonesia on Thursday according to The Social Affairs Ministry’s crisis center. A total of 376 deaths occurred in the Padang City, capital of West Sumatra province.
