Cavs Acquire Antawn Jamison

The Cleveland Cavaliers have added another scorer to support LeBron James after getting Antawn Jamison from the Washington Wizards as trade deadline looms. According to a report by SI.com, the Cavaliers shipped center Zydrunas Ilgausakas, a first-round draft pick, and draft rights to Emil Preldzic in the three-team trade that also involved the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Cavaliers also received Sebastian Telfair from the Clippers, while the Wizards will get Al Thornton and Brian Skinner from Los Angeles. The Clippers, on the other hand, will acquire Drew Gooden. The Clippers will be Gooden’s third team in less than a week. He was recently traded by the Dallas Mavericks to the Wizards.

Cleveland’s acquisition of Jamison may have ended rumors that the Cavaliers are also pursuing Amar’e Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns. This development could put the Miami Heat as the front runner in the race to get Stoudemire, who is considered the hottest commodity up for grabs before the trade deadline on Thursday.
