Cavs sweep into NBA East finals, Mavs avoid elimination

The Cleveland Cavaliers outlasted the Atlanta Hawks 84-74 in Game 4 before a sellout crowd Monday night at Philips Arena, sweeping them out of the playoffs and ending their season with a four-game losing streak.

Lebron James scored 27 points and eight rebounds while Delonte West added 21 for the Cavaliers, who remain unbeaten in the playoffs.

Cleveland will face the winner of the Boston-Orlando series which is even at 2-2 with Game 5 set for Tuesday in Boston.

In the West, 44 points and 13 boards from Dirk Nowitzki helped the Dallas Mavericks spoil Denver’s bid for a sweep with a 119-117 victory.

Nowitzki scored 19 points in the last quarter, including a high-arching shot with 1:05 left that put Dallas ahead for good.

Carmelo Anthony notched 41 points for the Nuggets, which will host Game 5 on Wednesday.
