CBS Announces Panel Talk Show to Replace ‘As The World Turns’

Sharon_OsbourneCBS already announced that the replacement of the longest-running soap opera currently running in television will be a panel talk type show hosted by six women.

The format will be the same as that of The View. The still unnamed hour-long show will be hosted by Julie Chen (Big Brother, The Early Show), Sharon Osbourne (pictured; America’s Got Talent, Celebrity Apprentice), Sara Gilbert (Roseanne, The Big Bang Theory), Holly Robinson Peete, (Celebrity Apprentice), Marissa Jaret Winokur (Dancing with the Stars) and Leah Remini (The King of Queens).

The show will discuss various current events. However, the CBS is claiming that all the discussions will be from a mother’s point of view as all of the hosts have children with age ranging from infants to adults. Some of the hosts have celebrity spouses or partners.

The new show will be replacing As The World Turns, which was cancelled after being on air for 54 years (started April 2, 1956). Its last episode will be on September 17, 2010.
